At the Zoo

On Saturday we decided to go to the Idaho Falls Zoo. We got tickets from my dad and headed out. We have never been so only knew what to expect from what Jeremy, Julie, and Austin had told us. It was a pretty nice day, not too hot and not too cold...but we put on hats and sunscreen anyway. The new frog exhibit opened on Saturday so we got to see the frogs and that was neat. At first the male lion was the only one out, but as we stood there the female lion came out and joined him. The tiger was walking around, and the singing dogs were cool too (they don't really sing, but it is a very neat sound that they make when they bark). As we were headed out of the zoo we saw a zoo worker with a hawk on his arm. We asked him about it and he said that they were going to be in a show that started soon. We followed him but just as they were getting things ready for the show it started to rain, so we headed for the car.

From the zoo we headed to the Museum of Idaho to see the World of the Pharaohs exhibit. The museum is a really cool place, and they have lots of good exhibits that come. The kids love to go play in the children's discovery room, so Shane and I take turns looking at the exhibits and watching the kids. One of the really cool things that we saw was a mummy of a kitten. On our way out of the museum we saw a machine that would write your name in hieroglyphics, so we got one for each of us. It was a great day together, and fun for all.

It's Not Easy Being 2

It's not easy to be a 2 year old, always moving and exploring...and getting hurt. Yesterday Tristan was playing outside our apartment and lost his balance by the neighbor's concrete stairs. Drake reached out to grab him and saved him from lots of harm, but Tristan still got some scratches and scrapes.

Now today he was standing on our baseboard heater looking out the window, lost his balance and fell down on a toy. He cut his ear, all the way through, and we took him to the doctor and he got 2 stitches. Here are some pictures, one is of the stitches, one of the scratch on the other side of the ear, and the other of my cute little boy with scratches on his face from yesterday.

Drake's Soccer Season

Well, Drake finished his soccer season today. This is he second year playing Campfire soccer. He did really well this year. His team went undefeated (but they don't really keep score, only us parents). He is a great defensiveman and did a great job as goalie today. The only time the other team scored Drake was on the sidelines. Here are some pictures from his season, his team and him with his trophy.
Coming up this summer is swimming lessons and flag football. He is also doing a science camp, so busy summer ahead.

Here we go!

Well I have never blogged before, but thought that I would give it a try.

Shane finished his last final today and has his Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. We are excited, and a bit scared becuase now we have to find a real job while we try to get into grad school. We are hoping to be in Grad School next year (crossing our fingers), we should be able to apply starting in August and then find out if he is accepted around April of 2009.
